'Essex County Council operates a large legal office with around 120 members of staff. In 2002, we took the decision to enhance our in-house expertise by creating a partnership with an external firm of lawyers.

We wanted to find a private sector partner who would identify with the world of local government law and with whom we could share skills and thinking. In return, we were in a position to offer preferred supplier status.

Following a tendering exercise, Nabarros were our choice. They blended a real understanding of the local authority operation and our objectives with human empathy.

Our partnership has prospered and developed and they have become a valued addition to our team. Their range of expertise is very wide and has been much appreciated as our span of operation has increased.

Having Nabarros in our corner adds credence to our service. Other councils have similar arrangements but few offer access to such a huge pool of information or experience.

Interestingly, it’s not just about lawyers. Contact between Essex County Council and Nabarros’ support staff has been very much appreciated and a real morale boost for our people.

We work with Nabarros across a whole range of areas. From PFI to waste contracts to pension group difficulties – anything relating to commercial, taxation or company related issues. They actively support our business and we rely on that support. Wherever and whatever is required, Nabarros are prompt, efficient and highly effective.

We have learned a great deal from their people, their processes and commercial approach to business. We would like to think the traffic has not been one way. Our partnership with Nabarros enables us to offer a unique public/private legal service to our clients.'
