We are hugely engaged on climate change issues, in fact there are few areas of our firm that this doesn't affect. In particular, we’re advising property developers who are required to deliver low or zero carbon housing and commercial developments. We have been involved in a number of such high profile developments.
As well as advising on these issues, we're also involved in setting the agenda. We have been working closely with a number of organisations to promote the green and sustainable development cause.
The Better Building Partnership
An initiative developed by the London Climate Change Agency, the Better Building Partnership brings together a number of the largest commercial and public property owners in London under one recognition scheme.
We have been working closely with The Better Building Partnership to help them in their initiative to bring together a number of the largest commercial and public property owners in London to work together to improve the sustainability of London’s existing building stock and accelerate the reduction in CO 2 emissions from those buildings.
They are all working to improve the sustainability of London’s existing building stock and accelerate the reduction in CO2 emissions from those buildings.
The partnership influences the market place and delivers solutions enabling sustainable building retrofit in London. By doing so, it demonstrates leadership and best practice to the wider commercial property market. To view their website, please follow the link here: http://www.lcca.co.uk/server/show/nav.00500a
Green Development Guide
There has been a real shift in the mood of property developers and investors and the subject of green development is now much more mainstream and not the preserve of ‘tree huggers’ and unkempt campaigners.
Around three quarters of all EU energy consumption is attributed to the urban environment generally and as such the sector is under more and more scrutiny. As part of our initiative to increase the awareness around these issues, we sponsored the Property Week supplement Guide to Green Development, to see an online copy please follow the link here: http://emag.digitalpc.co.uk/cmpi/pwkgreen07.asp
Living in a Low Carbon World Conference
Nabarro are again a partner sponsor of this important conference following the enormous success of the inaugural conference in 2007. On April 17, the "Living a Low Carbon World Conference" will be held at the Royal Geographic Society in London.
The purpose and focus of the 2008 event will be to allow delegates from this year's event to report back on the progress they have made within their own organisations and then to take the next steps towards further reducing their Carbon emissions.
These next steps form the basis for the main topics of the conference where we will jointly examine through key note presentations and interactive panel debates the need and mechanisms by which carbon emissions can be reduced through more efficient design, construction and energy usage methodologies.
