Leading investors confirmed for breakfast seminar for manufacturers seeking funds

22 February 2011

Some of the UK’s leading investment companies and funding experts are set to hold an open breakfast seminar for manufacturers during the Global Manufacturing Festival: Sheffield on Tuesday 15 March at Electric Works. Manufacturers will hear how their sector is set to become a major focus for investment funds.

Nabarro is hosting the seminar in conjunction with the Yorkshire Association of Business Angels. Nabarro partner Andrea Cropley says:

“We have some of the UK’s leading private equity, investment and funding companies on the panel. This is set to be a key event in the Festival schedule and the panel of experts will talk openly and frankly to manufacturers about how local companies can better prepare themselves to attract investment. We’re expecting a vigorous debate as the financial experts answer manufacturers’ concerns and queries about routes to investment.

“Funders say they have often found manufacturers to be overly-cautious about welcoming outside funds in to help secure international contracts or to expand, but the funders and financiers attending the seminar say companies have nothing to fear as they need manufacturers to continue to manage their companies well.

“Funding is key to the growth of the manufacturing sector but for many years investors have been pre-occupied with the service sector, so manufacturing has not received the investment it has required. This is now changing and investors and venture capitalists see that manufacturing has great potential for medium-term returns and long-term growth.

“This seminar will see the financial and investment sector talk openly and directly about its ambitions for manufacturing. Equally importantly, manufacturers will have the unique opportunity to quiz those in charge of major funds about their how best to attract the right investors.”

Nabarro partners Andrea Cropley and Ben Hendry will host the seminar and panel members will answer the audience’s questions. Participants in the investment seminar will include: Mark Owen of NBGI Private Equity, Ed Cottrell of Investec, Andrew Burton of Yorkshire Association of Business Angels, Steven Chait of Burdale Financial, Garry Wilson of Endless LLP and James Benfield of Baird Capital Partners.

Places at the event are limited but free tickets can be reserved via events@nabarro.com

Nabarro’s breakfast investment seminar is part of the Global Manufacturing Festival: Sheffield which takes place between 14 and 24 March 2011. The festival will reaffirm the UK, and Sheffield, as a global leader in advanced engineering and manufacturing innovation.
