Nabarro corporate teams in Sheffield and London have acted for RATP Développement, the international development arm of the French transport group, on its acquisition of the Manchester Metrolink tram network from Stagecoach Group.
The acquisition marks the first move for RATP into light rail in the United Kingdom.
The Nabarro team led by corporate partners Clare Grayston and Ben Hendry and senior associate, Gareth Saynor, harnessed the Firm's industrial and manufacturing expertise centred in its Sheffield office.
Nabarro previously acted on the March 2011 acquisition of London United Busways and Bournemouth Transport for RATP Développement giving its client an established foothold in the UK.
Commenting on the deal, Clare Grayston, partner at Nabarro, said:
"The expertise of our Sheffield office has been invaluable in leading this major acquisition for RATP Développement. It is always a pleasure to build on a close relationship with an existing client in support of their strategic goals."
Stagecoach Group was represented by Ben Ward and Richard Hollis of Herbert Smith.
