Nabarro LLP has advised Kent County Council on the purchase of Telereal Trillium's investment in Kent's first Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Local Education Partnership (LEP) by Kier Group.
The LEP was set up in October 2008 to deliver 34 new and refurbished secondary schools in Kent through traditional design and build contracts, the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and ICT contracts.
Nabarro advised Kent on all legal aspects of the transaction, including corporate structures, due diligence, contracts, tax and procurement. Nabarro has advised Kent on its BSF project from pre-procurement in 2006 and is already working on the second phase of schools. The team was led by partner, Stephen Matthew, and senior associate, Janet Lewis. Kier Group was advised by Pinsent Masons and Matheson Ormsby Prentice. Telereal Trillium was advised by Lovells.
Stephen Matthew, partner at Nabarro comments: 'This major transaction provides Kent with a new long term partner to deliver its BSF project. This is the first time a new partner has stepped into the lead role on a BSF project during project delivery. We are delighted to add this to our unrivalled experience advising local authorities on BSF.'
