Nabarro LLP has advised Middlesex University on obtaining planning permission for the £80m redevelopment of the Hendon Town Hall car park site and adjoining land for a 2 to 5 storey teaching block of 15,460 m2, 28 parking spaces, secure cycle parking for 42 cycles and associated paths, terraces, landscaping and works.
The planning consent secures payments of nearly £250,000 to help fund environmental improvements such as biodiversity and nature conservation, an ecological watching brief to identify and protect any protected species or habitats and traffic improvements. The University will part-fund the schemes but also collaborate with the Council in the developing the initiatives.
Planning partner, Joshua Risso-Gill led the Nabarro team, assisted by associate Kathryn Hampton.
Commenting on the consent, Joshua said: "We are delighted to have assisted Middlesex University to obtain planning permission for this significant, state-of-the-art teaching facility for their art, design and media courses. The development will complement its existing facilities at the Hendon campus and incorporate the very latest sustainable energy features. It secures a package of major environmental benefits, including the improvement of the public open space at Hendon Grove and Sunny Hill Park"
