Nabarro advises Sports Direct on £86.8 million property portfolio acquisition

The Sheffield based corporate and real estate teams of Nabarro have advised Sports Direct International, the UK's leading sports retailer, on an £86.8m property portfolio purchase from its Executive Deputy Chairman, Mike Ashley.

Property partner, Rebecca Kitchingham and Michaela Mason (senior associate) provided the real estate input, while corporate partner, Andrea Cropley and associate, Richard Lee, advised on the corporate aspects of the transaction.

Completion of the acquisition is expected to take place on 1 March 2012 following approval by shareholders of the proposed acquisition at the General Meeting held on 7 September 2011.

Commenting on the deal, James Hartley, client relationship partner for Sports Direct said;
