Nabarro dedicates time for Young Enterprise programme

9 April 2009

As part of the firm’s CSR drive, seven volunteers from Nabarro LLP spent a day with 25 schoolchildren at Westminster Academy to teach them about business and enterprise. The scheme was part of a Young Enterprise programme entitled ‘Project Business’ aimed at 14 year old students.

Samantha Wright, Christine Ormond, Josephine Wagner, Natasha Rughani, Will Lo, Deborah Simpson-Haas and Lara Machnicki took part in the programme, designed to develop the students’ understanding and appreciation of business and enterprise through a series of lessons exploring the relationship between businesses and stakeholders, shareholders, employees, the community and the environment.

Each team of volunteers ran their own classroom and throughout the day the students got involved in a range of tasks, games and presentations, including setting up a bracelet making business, trading shares in each other’s companies and designing a job advertisement.

Natasha Rughani, trainee solicitor at Nabarro, said: “Teaching a group of 14 year olds was both challenging and exciting. I think we all learnt a great deal from the experience and were encouraged by the positive feedback from the children. It was certainly very demanding- but I would jump at the opportunity to do it again!”
