Nabarro’s dispute avoidance product commended in international awards ceremony for ‘shifting role of legal advisers from fire-fighting to fire prevention’

A business product developed in the Sheffield office of national law firm Nabarro, which addresses the fact that British businesses spend £33 billion annually to settle legal disputes, has been commended for its effectiveness at an international legal business award ceremony.

Nabarro’s conflict avoidance product was runner-up in the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution’s 20th annual awards in the category of conflict management. The product helps companies avoid expensive litigation by managing their internal supply chain more efficiently and reducing the number of disputes with suppliers and customers that cause problems.

The judges said of the Nabarro initiative: “An unusual and innovative move by a law firm to go beyond dispute resolution and offer a conflict management solution to its clients. This innovation by Nabarro has the potential to shift the role of the law firm from 'fire fighting' to 'fire prevention'.”

Nabarro dispute resolution partner Gerard Khoshnaw says: “This is great recognition from an internationally-renowned organisation. We were delighted to be a finalist as we were up against tough competition from around the world. The programme is available to help reduce massively UK industry’s dispute costs by focussing on avoidance before escalation.”
