Nabarro LLP has advised The Great Capital Partnership on obtaining planning permission for a 140,000 sq ft net office scheme on its site at the junction of Fetter Lane and New Fetter Lane, EC4 in the City of London.
The Great Capital Partnership was formed in April 2007 as a joint venture between Great Portland Estates plc and Liberty International plc subsidiary Capital & Counties. This latest high profile development will involve the demolition of the existing 1950s buildings and redevelopment of a 14 storey building with ground floor retail fronting Plough Place, adjacent to New Street Square.
The planning consent secures payments from the developer to reinvigorate the pedestrian area at Plough Place, provision of off-site affordable housing and other environment and traffic improvements. Nabarro also assisted in negotiating a reduced financial contribution towards Crossrail, which will serve the development from nearby Farringdon Station.
Planning partner, Joshua Risso-Gill led the Nabarro team, assisted by associate Luke Barfoot.
Commenting on the consent, Joshua said: "We are delighted to have assisted The Great Capital Partnership to obtain planning permission for this significant office addition to the City. The development will compliment the other offices on Fetter Lane and offer a package of major benefits for the improvement of the local area. This consent was a team effort built on a very positive working relationship with the City Corporation's officers."
