Nabarro wins Gold Award for carbon emission cuts

1 July 2009

Nabarro LLP has won a Gold Award from London Green 500 in acknowledgement of its historical and on-going progress to reduce the firm’s carbon emissions.

In 2008, Nabarro joined the Green 500, one of Mayor Boris Johnson initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, which targeted 500 of the biggest organisations in London. Nabarro’s recycling scheme and waste management programme meant that 75 tonnes of carbon emissions were prevented this year; a 95 per cent reduction.

The Mayor of London awarded the firm with a Gold Award as it demonstrated clear evidence in energy management, involving successful carbon reduction initiatives such as installing low power lighting, beverage machines with motion detection for power saving, and moving to blade server technology. The firm was also recognised for its waste management, including a successful recycling initiative and an overall reduction in its carbon footprint.

Russell Stevens, head of facilities at Nabarro said:

“Achieving Gold Award level in our first year of participation is fantastic recognition of the firm’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. The success of any environmental programme is very much down to the participation of the people and our staff and partners have been tremendous. The professional emphasis on environmental performance is now clear as we provide clients our environmentally friendly credentials as part of the tender process, coinciding with the Carbon Reduction Commitment programme. Through our efforts we are now well placed to confidently provide our information knowing we compare very favourably with our peers and our competition."
