Nabarro wins three planning appeals for CBRE in Leeds

28 September 2011

The Nabarro planning team, advising long-standing client, the global real estate investment firm CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) Investors, has won three appeals at City South Retail Park in Leeds. The appeals were heard by the Secretary of State's Inspector at a public inquiry in August against the refusal by Leeds City Council to allow various changes to restrictions on the sale of goods at the retail park.

CBRE Investors has managed City South Retail Park (formerly Tulip Retail Park), an out of centre retail park of 11 units over 13,100 square metres of retail floor space, since 2006.

Joshua Risso-Gill, planning partner at Nabarro led the team assisted by Clare Eccles (senior associate) and Camilla Bolton (trainee) working with Jeremy Hinds, Head of Savills National Retail Team. Leeds City Council was advised by its in-house solicitor.

Commenting on the Inspector's decisions Joshua said:

"This is a hugely satisfying win. We have been working with CBRE Investors since 2007 to devise and execute the strategy to unlock the restrictions and allow further investment in City South Retail Park. These decisions should now pave the way to securing other new occupiers for the vacant units and much needed local regeneration".
