We’ve been working consistently with Nabarro for the last eight years or so. They are our sole provider in the UK for advice on employment disputes and they have also provided us with assistance through affiliated firms in Europe. They can recommend other lawyers, so we’re developing a little bit of a network among our European lawyers.

We have quite a small HR team here and quite a complex HR environment with seven countries and seven sets of employment law jurisdictions. We could for example have someone working in the UK who is on a French contract - then you have the problem of which jurisdiction if something goes wrong. It makes things a lot simpler when you have associated lawyers in different jurisdictions who can work together.

Nabarro has a very commercial approach which fits our business. They are very good at helping us find the right way through the complexities of each situation to deliver a commercial solution to a problem. I don’t need the law quoted at me because I have a very good grasp of all of that. What I need is an understanding of how we make it work for the situation. I think that’s what Nabarro is very good at doing.

The other key thing that differentiates them is responsiveness in terms of queries. This business here is so fast paced - I am shocked that we’ve been able to sit here for twenty minutes now and have this chat without ten phone calls interrupting me! Nabarro will find a way always to provide really timely and accurate advice in such a short space of time. They are hugely responsive and that makes all the difference to me in my day.

I know that when they’re advising me they’ve got the situation right from the start. They ask all the right questions and understand all the issues. And you don’t always get that from law firms - you would think that you do, but….

I also think Nabarro is good at keeping their clients up to date - they have various news flashes that go out and they hold reasonably regular seminars on various topics of employment law. It creates a great opportunity for networking with their clients. They’re very useful - it gives me a chance to talk to peers and others in my industry.

I think they look after their clients very well. They’re customer service focused. It engages you and it makes you want to keep working with them.

Our business has doubled in size in the last six years and we aim to double it again in the next six. It’s reassuring for me to know that Nabarro has been with us all that time. They know the full history, the characters, what the issues can be and they’re able to give us good timely advice no matter how urgent or complex the matter.
