Restructuring & Insolvency overview

We quickly identify the issues and develop pragmatic commercial solutions

"They have a friendly, well-connected group who work well together"
Chambers Directory, 2007

This group comprises partners and associates from corporate, finance, and insolvency and is further complemented by specialists from our other practice areas which include real estate, pensions, employment, projects and tax as the case requires.  It is the ever flexible nature of the group structure that enables us to always tailor teams to suit client need. "This 'immensely responsive team’ possesses a well-rounded base of experience" (Chambers Directory, 2006)

We have extensive experience of advising the full range of stakeholders, including debtor companies, directors, secured and unsecured creditors and insolvency practitioners. We advise clients from a broad range of sectors, including real estate, retail, pensions, charities, public sector and asset-based lending, at all stages of the decline curve - from turnarounds, work-outs, reorganisations and restructurings to formal insolvency. This breadth and depth enables us to speedily identify the issues in any given case and formulate pragmatic commercial paths through them.

As well as advising when financial difficulties are identified, we also advise on solvent reorganisations and mitigating insolvency risk in transactions in the making.  When devising preventative measures, we often work back from our real-life experiences to come up with practical solutions.

"Areas of experience include…cross-border transactions, particularly in the EU market"
Chambers Directory 2007

We have been involved in some of the larger and more complex international and cross-border cases, including SwissAir, Flightlease, Crisscross, KPN Quest, Parmalat and Eurodis. As a result, we have developed a particular expertise and continue to break new ground in these matters, particularly those involving the European Insolvency Regulation. We have a tried and tested track record of working with select firms in the US, Europe and elsewhere to provide a seamless international service.
