Profile

I am a partner and the Head of the commercial IT and Outsourcing practice. I specialise in strategic and complex IT and telecommunication projects including all forms of cloud computing (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS), outsourcing (IT, BPO and off-shoring), system development and supply, system integration, software licensing, support and service agreements. I also regularly advise on data protection, privacy, cyber-security and PCI DSS issues.

I am deeply immersed in the technology sector and I am at forefront of related policy issues, representing the UK on a number of international committees. This market intelligence supports clients in their strategic planning and future proofing of projects. I am on the International Advisory Board of Cyber Rescue Alliance, which is a business assistance alliance helping its members reduce the harm caused by cyber-attacks. I am also heavily involved with the best practice procurement having just completed a 4 year term as a Global Board of Trustee for the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

I have written and spoken extensively on IT and outsourcing and I am regularly called upon by the industry as a thought leader in these areas. I have been interviewed in the press, radio, webinars and on television (including BBC Click and Channel 4 Dispatches). I am one of very few UK solicitors who is a Fellow of CIPS (FCIPS), Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a Chartered IT Professional (CITP). I have post-graduate degrees in information technology and business administration so I am well aware of the commercial, business and technical issues facing both users and suppliers of technology. I have in-house industry legal experience having been seconded to Accenture UK for 9 months as a Senior Legal Counsel.

I am recognised as a leading individual for IT in the Legal 500 and as a Star Individual in Chambers & Partners directories. I have been named in Who’s Who Legal: Telecommunications, Media & Technology (TMT) 2016 as one of the world's leading TMT lawyers. I am also a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia, and have practised in those jurisdictions.
